An activist’s hunger strike in an Israeli prison sparks calls for his release.

Palestinian activist Khader Adnan’s hunger strike has received the attention of netizens and human rights activists worldwide. Solidarity protests for Adnan, who is being held under administrative detention by Israeli authorities, have taken place in recent days and continued on Wednesday, the 54th day of his strike.

Adnan, a spokesperson for the Islamic Jihad party, was arrested December 17 when Israeli forces raided his home. He was reportedly transferred from the detention facility to a hospital Sunday, where activists say he was being force-fed liquids. He has spent a total of six years in Israeli prisons, and this is the eighth time he has been detained.
