From Egypt to the Maldives and Canada to Fiji, many women took to the streets on International Women’s Day to promote gender equality and women’s rights in their respective countries.

In 1975, the United Nations designated March 8 as International Women's Day, a day to celebrate women's achievements and remember their prior struggles.
