To promote conservation, Indian campaigners are urging that the water be taken out of the traditional Festival of Colours. The celebration, also called Holi, typically includes the throwing of brightly colored powders and water as part of reenactment of the stories of deities. Indian bloggers, journalists and celebrities are campaigning for waterless Holi celebrations in their drought-stricken country.
