Gay couples get married over Google hangout

French group offers online ceremonies for same-sex couples to push legislation.

Before same-sex marriage was legalised in France, some couples turned to social media for their weddings.
This video, recently uploaded by the group Tous Unis Pour L'Egalite ("All United For Equality"), shows symbolic marriage ceremonies being performed for French couples over Google hangout by a Belgian mayor. Gay marriage has been legal in Belgium since 2003.
Though it remains a controversial topic in the country, France's same-sex marriage law came into effect more than a week ago. Now the group is offering to host online ceremonies for couples in countries that are currently debating marriage equality.
