Policing Egypt’s sexual harassment – for women, by women

Egyptian women combating sexual harassment have taken the law into their own hands in many ways, but for the first time they are doing so with the full support of the government. 

 

The Interior Ministry has launched a new unit of female officers after police received criticism for their treatment of harassed women. Their aim is to encourage women who may not report assault to come forward.
