Public outcry inside and outside the courtroom broke out on Thursday after 25-year-old Ala Yaacoub, also known as Weld El 15, was sentenced to two years in prison for his song "The Police are Dogs." According to reports, police were seen beating and arresting several people, one of whom was a journalist, outside the courtroom after the verdict was read. Yaacoub was not in attendance during his initial sentencing back in March and decided to turn himself in this week in hopes of having his prison term reduced. The Stream covered this story in March when two artists were sentenced to six-months in jail for their involvement in Yaacoub's music video.
