Is Russian president Vladimir Putin assaulting free speech or protecting traditions of the country? In June, he passed two laws - the first banning gay propaganda and the second a blasphemy law providing up to one year in prison for "insult to religious feelings". International human rights groups have raised concerns about what they view as an increasingly restrictive government. Supporters claim the wishes of the majority are being met. So, what really is the state of freedom of expression in Russia today?
