Does the British government have the right to filter online porn?

Is the war on online porn in the UK a slippery slope into censorship? Prime Minister David Cameron has proposed a set of online filters that people will have to opt out of, which are meant to protect children from pornographic websites. Proponents claim this is a necessary measure that will attack child porn, depictions of rape and violence against women. Critics, however, see this as a form of censorship and believe the filters may also prevent children from accessing sexual health information.
