Western allies are preparing for possible military action against Syria. Syrian opposition leaders say they were told strikes against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime could happen within days. The shift comes after reports of chemical weapons use against civilians emerged. Despite government denials, the Arab League is backing the allies’ judgment that the regime was responsible. As the military option nears, we ask: what will it accomplish?
