What does the Parti Québécois’ proposed charter mean for Quebec and the rest of Canada?
If you’re a Quebecer, soon you may have to think twice about wearing conspicuous religious symbols. The Parti Québécois is proposing a charter of values arguing that Canada’s much-touted model of multiculturalism is a failure that does not reflect reality. Critics are saying this is creating divisions in the province where none currently exist. What impact could a values charter have on Canadian identity?
