Soon a detailed show on the education standards and fee structure and what education is actually being given to our kidsMubasher Lucman
In the segment below (in Urdu), Lucman accused the school of replacing a required Islamic studies course with a comparative religion class. A concerned parent on the show worried that the course would diminish the students' understanding of Pakistan as a Muslim country.

On Twitter, many agreed with his concerns.

But others pushed back on Lucman's claims.
For all those confused, Lahore Grammar School has not stopped teaching Islamiat! #Lahoregrammarschool #55mainAm Ahmed

School principal Nasreen Shah took to Facebook to
misconceptions about the course.
Recently 55 Main’s philosophy has come under criticism by a group of parents who believe that the course ‘Comparative Religion’ should not be taught. Therefore, we believe that we must clarify what this subject is and why we teach it. Our institution believes in inculcating values such as tolerance and empathy in all our students. ‘Comparative religion’ is essentially a ‘history of religion.’facebook.com
Islam teaches us to broaden our minds, not close them; in fact, it asks us to seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave. Learning and understanding other religions and cultures will not and should not threaten our personal beliefs, but rather should strengthen them. We staunchly believe that this course helps develop better citizens, informed Muslims and enlightened Pakistanis who are secure about their identity.facebook.com
Online, Shah received an outpouring of support.
An alumnus of the school
Our children live in a country where they wake up to discover that a young class fellow has been slain because s/he subscribes to one particular school of Islamic thought rather than another. More than ever, our children need to understand other faiths, if only so that they can better understand their own. They need to understand faith period, so that they can protect it from the near-constant assault that it is under from those who would use it as a weapon of oppression. Please, do not deny them that opportunity.facebook.com
But the controversy has still left some nervous.
So thanks to Mubasher Lucman, our school is now openly exposed to threats! I wonder where these lies will take this country. #Angry #55MainRaafia Wasay
