Protesters gathered in cities around Nigeria to demand transparency and accountability from their lawmakers. In Abuja, protesters marched from Eagle Square to the National Assembly building, and demanded to speak with members of the assembly.
The Enough is Enough Nigeria Coalition, one of the groups leading the protests, has asked for a full breakdown of the N150 billion ($937 million) National Assembly budget.
The protests are also related to the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities strike which began in June, and have left public universities across the country shuttered as lecturers demand higher pay and better working conditions.
