Three Moroccan teenagers accused of violating "public decency" have been released ahead of their trial. The young couple and their friend who took the picture were being held in a juvenile detention centre since Thursday. Outraged Moroccans held a sit-in outside the detention centre shortly after their arrest.
Their arrest sparked global outcry on social media. Many protested by sharing kissing pictures using hashtag #FreeBoussa (Free Kiss):
