An Egyptian court has sentenced 12 supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsi to 17 years in prison for participating in violent protests. It is the latest in an ongoing political standoff between the Muslim Brotherhood and the military-backed government. Since his removal, thousands of Morsi supporters have been arrested, but now a Brotherhood-led alliance is calling for national dialogue to end Egypt’s crisis.
