They call themselves “Mipsterz”, short for Muslim hipsters. They recently released a music video titled “Somewhere In America” showing veiled Muslim women, in the latest trends, posing in urban settings. The aim: to present a “positive, rarely seen image of veiled Muslim women living in the West”, as one participant put it. The video sparked fierce debates about fashion in Islam, stereotyping and empowerment. So what’s a Muslim hipster? And why has it caused intense debate? Find out at 19:30 GMT.
