Sweden's consent debate

The Stream examines the issue of consent and its role in dealing with sexual assault.

In order to prosecute and prevent rape, does sexual consent need to be defined in law? That's the question being asked by people in Sweden, concerned after the acquittal of several suspected rapists. This week, a man was cleared of rape charges after saying he was not aware that his alleged victim was drunk. The ruling and similar cases have sparked public outrage and online criticism under the hashtag #samtycke or "consent". Join the conversation at 19:30 GMT.
