Killing of Palestinians strikes nerve online

Concerned netizens question the possibility of third intifada.

As many mourn the deaths of six Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza, supporters are taking to social media to express concern and outrage over the treatment of Palestinians by Israeli forces.

Saji Darwish, a Palestinian student, was shot in the head by Israeli forces near Ramallah late Monday. He died of his injuries. Earlier in the day, Raed Ala’eddin Nafe’ Zeiter, a 38-year-old Palestinian-Jordanian judge, was killed at the Allenby Bridge crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan, the Israeli army said. And on Tuesday, three Palestinian fighters were killed by an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. 

In a statement in Arabic, Palestinian Authority spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh warned the “latest Israeli escalation can lead to the situation spiraling out of control”. Netizens echoed this statement, many believing a third intifada, or uprising, could take place soon:
