Protecting Canada’s indigenous women

Killing of a student reignites debate over missing and murdered First Nations women.

Aboriginal women make up three per cent of Canada’s female population but 10 per cent of all female homicides. A recent report by the Special Committee on Violence Against Indigenous Women makes 16 recommendations on how the government can address this problem. Victims’ families and activists, however, say studies repeatedly highlight the severity of this issue, but lead to no genuine solutions. Will this report bring anything new? We discuss at 19:30 GMT.
