Thousands of residents are suffering from respiratory illnesses as fires continue to spread across the Riau province of Indonesia. In late February, Indonesia’s Sumatra Island declared a state of emergency. Since then, netizens have been using the hashtag #PrayforRiau and #MelawanAsap or “against smoke” to discuss the worsening situation.
