Netizens protest sentencing of Egypt’s ‘Mansoura Girls’

Three students to be imprisoned for their alleged involvement in November protest.

An Egyptian court sentenced three female Mansoura University students to prison Wednesday for their alleged involvement in protests at the school last November. Abrar Al-Anany, Menatullah Al-Belehy, and Yousra Al-Khatib were arrested in the midst of a clash between security forces and anti-coup demonstrators. The women had been charged with “affiliating to a banned group, disturbing public order, chanting against General [Abdel-Fattah] Sisi, and attacking state institutions and attacking police officers”.
