Photos appearing to show a group of French police officers in blackface at a party have sparked outrage on social media. A group of officers in Kremlin-Bicêtre, in the southern suburbs of Paris, are reportedly being investigated over the photos by the General Inspectorate for National Police.

Several race organisations denounced the images. Georges Tin, president of the Council of Black Associations, said French police should fire the officers immediately if the investigation confirms the photos.

Claudy Siar, a former racial equality official, posted the images of what he called the "Negro party" on his Facebook page on June 3.
