Polish authorities raid magazine office over leaked recordings

Search of Wprost magazine sweeps Poland’s social media as editor fends off law enforcement attempts to seize files.

Polish law enforcement officials searched the offices of Wprost magazine twice on Wednesday in a failed attempt to seize the company’s computer files. On Saturday, the magazine published a recording of a conversation between two government officials discussing how they could use public resources to pressure private businesses. The magazine was set to publish more recordings, which prosecutors allege were obtained illegally.

scuffle between officers and journalists was recorded and shared on Twitter. Some users applauded Wprost’s editor-in-chief Latkowski Sylwester for refusing to surrender his “death grip” hold on his laptop to authorities.
