Kenyans demand national security at #SabaSabaRally

Following latest attack, citizens call on officials to actively address security challenges facing the country.

Thousands of Kenyans gathered in Nairobi’s Uhuru Park on Monday to protest insecurity and call for more open dialogue between citizens and the country’s leaders. July 7 or Saba Saba Day marks the 24th anniversary since the first Saba Rally, where Kenyans participated in protests calling for a multi-party democracy.

Organised by the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD), an opposition group led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the rally was intended to be an inclusive forum for Kenyans to air grievances and offer solutions to the country’s problems.

Online, Kenyans live-tweeted the event using #SabaSabaRally and #SabaSabaFever.
