Pope Francis consoles family members of the victims of the sunken ferry Sewol on August 16, 2014 in Seoul, South Korea. (GETTY/COMMITTEE FOR THE 2014 PAPAL VISIT TO KOREA)
During Pope Francis' trip to South Korea, one grieving father highlighted efforts to find justice for the victims of the April ferry disaster. Kim Young-oh, whose 16-year-old daughter died when the Sewol ferry sank, has been on hunger strike for more than 30 days on Gwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul. As Pope Francis walked past after his Saturday mass in the plaza, Kim caught his attention and pleaded for his support.
Netizens posted video of the interaction online.
