Fasting father shares struggle of Sewol families with Pope Francis

Sewol mourner on hunger strike asks for investigation during pope’s visit.

During Pope Francis’ trip to South Korea, one grieving father highlighted efforts to find justice for the victims of the April ferry disaster. Kim Young-oh, whose 16-year-old daughter died when the Sewol ferry sank, has been on hunger strike for more than 30 days on Gwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul. As Pope Francis walked past after his Saturday mass in the plaza, Kim caught his attention and pleaded for his support.

Netizens posted video of the interaction online.
