Shelved Spain rape case triggers ‘You are not alone’ campaign

#NoEstasSola hashtag makes a comeback amid planned protests against judge’s decision to file away Malaga rape case.

Spanish citizens have taken to Twitter to express their outrage with a judge’s decision last week to shelve a case against five men accused of raping a 20-year-old woman. The alleged rape took place in Malaga during the city’s annual summer fair where the woman worked. The accused men claim the sex was consensual, and their lawyer says he will take legal action against the woman for making a “false accusation”.

The hashtag #NoEstásSola or “You are not alone” re-emerged following the judge’s order. It has been mentioned more than 35,000 times in the past week.
