Why aren’t more women participating in peace talks?
In a world where men dominate peace negotiations, the potential in women’s roles in conflict resolution has yet to be realised.
In high-level peace talks, the voices of women remain largely excluded, and few have roles as conflict mediators and negotiators. Increasing involvement by women is a widely supported goal, as advocates say they are more likely to demand peace that addresses broader societal needs. So why aren’t more women getting a seat at the table? And how does their exclusion from peace talks affect long-term security?
