The Stream

Imagining a unified Korea

The Stream examines the potential for reunification between North and South Korea.

How would the reunification of North and South Korea work? And what are the pros and cons of bringing the two nations together? Over more than 60 years of separation, South Korea has been making contingency plans, and a government draft released last week said an initial $500 billion would be needed to make the North Korean economy reunification-ready. What steps should take place for reunification to be a reality?
