Russian monument to Steve Jobs removed after Apple CEO comes out as gay
Memorial dismantled to abide by ‘gay propaganda’ law.
A Russian memorial to the late Steve Jobs has reportedly been removed after current Apple CEO, Tim Cook, came out as gay in an op-ed published last week.
The iPhone “monument” was erected outside an IT college in January, 2013 by a group of Russian companies known as ZEFS. The group said in a statement it removed the memorial on Friday to “abide to the Russian federal law protecting children from information promoting denial of traditional family values”.
According to the group, the memorial was “in an area of direct access for young students and scholars”.
Signed last year, the law prohibits the spread of “gay propaganda” to minors.
