Finally, a good use for political ads

Brazilian recycling project turns campaign signs into household items.

How much trash does an election generate? Brazil’s recent elections left the streets littered with tons of campaign debris, including signboards for various political candidates. One project aims to give those posters a new purpose.

Political Furniture” (Projeto Mobiliário Político) encourages people to recycle these sandwich boards into functional household items. The project provides instruction sets so that anyone in the country can turn political signs into furniture.

The initiative is run by Mobilize Brasil, a sustainable urban development group, and US advertising agency J. Walter Thompson.
