UKIP’s cathedral mistake sparks Twitter parodies

Twitter users start #ThingsThatAreNotMosques in response to error from local political party.

A local affiliate of the right-wing United Kingdom Independence Party mistook Westminster Cathedral for a mosque, sparking the humourous hashtag #ThingsThatAreNotMosques on Twitter.

UKIP South Thanet had harsh words for the BBC after the news outlet shared a video of reporter Giles Dilnot conducting a survey about party leader Nigel Farage. The UKIP affiliate’s Twitter account chastised Dilnot, saying the reporter shouldn’t have taken the poll outside a mosque.
