Captured Jordanian pilot finds widespread online support

Muath al-Kassasbeh was taken hostage by ISIL after his plane crashed in Syria.

Jordanians online are expressing widespread solidarity and support for Muath al-Kassasbeh, an air force pilot who was captured by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) following his plane crash in Syria. ISIL claims to have downed the plane, but the US has disputed the claim.

As the government warned the armed group not to harm the pilot, the public took to Twitter, with the hashtag #كلنا_معاذ (We are all Muath) used more than 5,000 times in the last 24 hours, and more than 160,000 times since the crash.
