Netizens discuss #NAACPBombing, critique skimpy media coverage

Hashtag trends with more than 100,000 uses in less than 24 hours.

An improvised explosive device was set off in the US state of Colorado, outside the office of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the country’s largest African-American civil rights organisation. The attack caused minor damage but no casualties, as a gasoline canister placed next to the bomb did not explode.

The FBI deemed the attack deliberate, and said it was investigating the possibility that this was an “act of domestic terrorism”. Authorities are also looking for a white male in his 40s for a possible connection to the bombing. On Twitter, people discussed the incident with more than 100,000 uses of the hashtag #NAACPBombing, and the bulk of the conversation was directed at the dearth of mainstream media coverage:
