Male-dominated Greek government receives backlash

Netizens in Spain and around the world crticise lack of women in new Syriza cabinet.

When the hard left, anti-austerity Syriza party won a major victory in the Greek parliamentary election on Sunday, some termed it a revolution. But excitement around Syriza’s victory seems to have been tempered by the gender makeup of their government. Of the 41-member cabinet, only 6 positions were given to women, but none of the main ministry portfolios. This led Netizens across the world, and particularly in Spain, to trend #SinMujeresNoHayDemocracia (without women, this is no Democracy). The hashtag has more than 22,000 uses so far.
