Anti-Islam protester takes over podium at Texas Muslim event

Texas Muslim Capitol Day disrupted by woman who took mic to declare Islam a false religion.

The Texas Muslim Capitol Day, a Muslim-American legislative advocacy initiative organised by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the US state of Texas, was disrupted on Thursday when an anti-Islam protester took over the podium to declare “I stand against Islam.” The protester was cheered by others who called on Muslims to leave the US.

This comes on the heels of the controversy surrounding Texas House member Molly White, who posted on her Facebook page that she won’t be meeting with her Muslim constituents who were coming as part of the Texas Muslim Capitol Day. Instead, she said she left an Israeli flag to greet them at the reception desk, and had instructed her staff to request they pledge allegiance to the US. CAIR is seeking an ethics ruling on whether Representative White violated House rules by selectively requiring an oath of allegiance from a particular religious group.
