Residents resist eviction, clash with police in Dublin suburb

Residents squatting in a complex in the Dublin, Ireland suburb of Grangegorman faced eviction from their homes on Monday. The Solidarity Times argue police entered the complex illegally because officers did not produce the paperwork necessary to remove them. Approximately 30 people live in the building. Police officials allegedly used pepper spray and batons against residents as they protested their removal.

“[Police are being] scary violent…I feel intimidated”, said one resident interviewed by a citizen journalist. “[The police sergeant is]…not ordering people to assault, but he’s seen them…and he’s not…pulling them up…I’m covered in bruises. People are cut up and bleeding.”
