‘I too am an anarchist’ trends again after Spain police raids

Protests on the streets and online after police arrested members of anarchist groups in an effort to curb ‘terrorism’.

Multiple raids on suspected anarchist cells resulted in several arrests and sparked protests around Spain. During operation “Piñata”, police entered social centres and other locations in Madrid, Barcelona, Palencia and Granada. Spain’s Interior Ministry reported 26 detentions, including 12 members of the Coordinated Anarchist Groups. They were accused of ‘sabotage and placing explosive and incendiary devices’ and belonging to an ‘organised crime group with terrorist goals’. Some were arrested for resisting the raids.
