Video: Ukrainians say Russia trying to ‘rewrite history’ of World War II

A Ukrainian group has accused Russia of “misappropriating” the history of Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, pushing back with a campaign to reclaim Ukraine’s role in World War II. The videos, created by the NGO Information Resistance, with backing from the Ukrainian military and the National Military History Museum, draw a parallel from World War II to the country’s current conflict with Russia. In one video, a young soldier calls his grandfather, a World War II veteran, on Victory Day. “We remember. We are proud. We will prevail,” the video ends. In a second video, a former World War II nurse reminisces with her granddaughter who comes to the aid of a soldier wounded in combat.
