Police arrest Basque activists amid human wall of protests
Youth activists charged for their involvement in Basque separatist group.
Police in Spain’s Basque Country broke through a crowd of protesters to arrest three activists on Monday. Ibon Esteban, Igarki Robles and Aiala Zaldibar were sentenced to prison after being convicted of belonging to an armed group. The activists were charged with being connected to the Basque pro-independence group Segi. The group is allegedly the youth wing of the separatist group ETA, which Spain considers to be a terrorist organisation.
