Kenya’s leader is Africa’s ‘President of the Year’, but not everyone agrees

Prestigious group selects President Uhuru Kenyatta for ‘outstanding leadership’ and ‘progressive economic reforms’.

Kenyans are divided over the All-Africa Students Union’s (AASU) selection of President Uhuru Kenyatta for the prestigious Africa Education and Leadership Award. Kenyatta was given President of the Year for his “ability to build consensus locally and abroad”. 

The award is given every year, and previous recipients include President Paul Kagame of Rwanda.
