#MyAsianAmericanStory takes on ‘racist’ comments by Jeb Bush

Asian Americans challenge presidential candidate’s labeling of their community.

Asian Americans stormed Twitter after US presidential candidate Jeb Bush raised concerns about what he called “anchor babies” in an interview on Monday. “Anchor babies” is a term used to describe children of immigrant mothers who give birth in the US to secure their newborn’s citizenship. It is commonly used to describe Latino children, but Bush said he was talking about “fraud” being committed by “Asian people“.

High school student Jason Fog started #MyAsianAmericanStory after Bush’s comments.
