Chilean workers protest eviction from iconic mall taken over by Walmart

More than 2000 people could be out of jobs if the multinational retail corporation moves in.

Chilean workers protested outside the Mall del Mueble, a well-known furniture market in Santiago, after police tried to evict tenants. The mall, which is home to 200 businesses and more than 2000 workers, is set to become a Walmart.

On Wednesday morning, police began the process of evicting tenants who had set up barricades around the site.
