The Stream is a social media community with its own daily TV show.
#StreamUpdate shows are our chance to explore three stories our community is talking about.
The Rohingya crisis
We'll update one of our biggest stories of the year as it continues to slip off the radar. MSF is the first organisation to try to authoritatively assess how many people have been killed during the crisis, estimating that 6,700 Rohingya were killed between 25 August and 24 September. Now, a deal between Bangladesh and Myanmar to start returning Rohingya to Myanmar by January 23rd has come under criticism. So, how can the Rohingya live in safety? And where?
Crucial Catalonia vote
Catalans vote on Thursday for the first time since the country's worst political crisis in four decades erupted in October when Madrid cracked down on an independence referendum it had declared illegal and took control of the wealthy region. The latest polls show the election may be inconclusive with pro and anti-independence parties almost tied. We ask what's next.
Closer Than They Appear
Closer Than They Appear is the inaugural show from Al Jazeera's new podcast network, Jetty. One question has long nagged host Carvell Wallace: Can Americans move forward together? In this already award-winning podcast, he decides that the best way to do that is to face the dark moments in America's history - and his own.
