#SingaporeSummit: What happened when Trump met Kim?

The Stream explores the highly anticipated meeting between the US president and North Korea’s supreme leader.

US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim-Jong un haven’t always had the best relationship. Trump has referred to Kim as “little rocket man” and Kim, in turn, has called Trump a “dotard” who is unfit to serve in the White House.

But that’s all water under the bridge – maybe. The two leaders will meet in Singapore on Tuesday for an historic summit – an event that could reengage the so-called “hermit kingdom” with the international community.

So, after months of furious rhetoric between Trump and Kim, what, if anything, will their momentous meeting accomplish? And what could the outcomes of Tuesday’s summit mean for Koreans living on the Peninsula and in the diaspora?
