Against the backdrop of the Women Deliver Conference in Vancouver, Canada three high-profile women delegates join the programme for a candid conversation about leadership, their careers and the importance of mentorship.
Melinda Gates is fresh off her book tour for “The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World”. In her book she shares her story of balancing family, being a tech pioneer and philanthropist and seeking gender equality in her own life. Her work with The Gates Foundation aims to eradicate malaria, provide vaccinations for all, and give access to contraceptives worldwide. She pulls from lessons learned through the inspiring women she's met worldwide, and everything is personal for her, including the creation of the Giving Pledge.
Julia Gillard heads up the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King’s College London, which works towards a world where being a woman is not a barrier to becoming a leader in any field. And Gillard knows about leading; she served as prime minister of Australia and leader of the Labor party from 2010 to 2013. She was recently named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Gender Policy for 2019.
Another powerhouse on the list, Winnie Byanyima, is Executive Director of OXFAM International. She had a viral moment in January when discussing inequality at Davos with Dutch historian Rutger Bregman. At this year’s Women Deliver Conference she wants to focus on tackling and dismantling unjust economic models that exploit women and children. She also wants to urge governments to plan for growth that puts children in school, and levels men and women.
Join the conversation with these three influential women.
