As COVID-19 continues to spread across the United States, President Donald Trump’s managing of the pandemic has left much to be desired, critics say.
They warn that an inability to reign in the coronavirus, coupled with an economic recession, could cost Trump his re-election in November.
However, supporters of the president argue that Trump has taken decisive action to stop the spread of the virus, including instituting sweeping travel bans. But with COVID-19 already taking root across the country, health officials say more drastic action is needed.
Such steps include ensuring Americans are self-quarantining if feeling ill. For millions, this would be impossible without guaranteed paid sick leave and better health care. But Trump’s pledge to address these issues has yet to bear fruit.
