Anonymous revives #OpEgypt
Hacktivist collective threatens Egyptian government as country's political crisis intensifies.
The hacktivist collective Anonymous announced last week that it would begin a campaign called #OpEgypt against Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. Some of the websites targeted for attack include Egypt's Ministry of Interior and sites related to the Muslim Brotherhood.
The group's previous #OpEgypt campaign took down government websites in the lead up to former President Hosni Mubarak's ouster in 2011.
More than 200 people have been reported injured in ongoing clashes between supporters and opponents of President Morsi. Anonymous outlined its complaints against Morsi, along with plans to hack certain government websites, in an online press release:
