An attack on Syria's National Security building in Damascus during a high-level meeting has killed four senior government officials. Both the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and a group known as Liwa Al-Islam have claimed responsibility for the attacks. The latter group did so via Facebook.

The tweet below claims two additional officials were killed during the meeting, though Al Jazeera has only confirmed the deaths of Defence Minister General Daoud Rajha, Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim al-Shaar, Deputy Vice President General Hassan Turkmani, and Deputy Defence Minister Assef Shawkat, who is also President Bashar al-Assad's brother-in-law.
