Chinese village holds first independent election

The town of Wukan is holding an election where any of the 10,000 registered residents can run for office.

On Wednesday, residents of the southern Chinese village cast votes in what is being called the country's first completely open and democratic election.

The independent elections comes after thousands took to the streets in protest two months ago.
