A group of Palestinian women were detained Thursday after attempting to break into an Israeli military outpost in the West Bank. The protest was in response to Israel's ongoing assault on the Gaza Strip. When news of the women's detention spread, other activists returned to the protest site to demand their release. The Israeli military camp guards the Jewish settlement of Beit El. Protesters called it "a symbol of the presence of Israeli occupation and military rule inside the [West Bank]".
